Looking for things to do before or after the big race? Check out our list of 2017 Indy 500 events and parties in Indianapolis, IN. Whether you are excited about Fernando Alonso taking his turn behind the wheel of an Indy car for his 500 debut, or just want to enjoy the events and festivities around the big race, it is sure to be a great weekend.
500 Festival Parade
We have already talked about the parade on our blog with our Memorial Day post. The 500 is always held on Memorial Day weekend, which means for Indianapolis, many of the events tend to bleed together. Call it a Memorial Day parade. Call it a race parade. Either way, it’s bound to be one of the most amazing spectacles on the Indianapolis streets Saturday, May 27.
The 69th Little 500
Whether you need a taste of racing early, or if you just don’t have tickets for the 500, maybe you should check out the Little 500. It will be the 69th running of the Little 500 at Anderson Speedway just northwest of Indianapolis. It’s a real 500 lap race on a beautiful little track and tickets are only $35. Qualifying and practice begins on May 24, but the big little race will be held Saturday evening, May 27.
The exclusive Snakepit Ball will be the biggest party in all of Indianapolis the day before the big race. Starting at 6:00PM on May 27, attendees will get to see the X Ambassadors, enjoy “interactive food stations,” and rub elbows with local, national, and international celebrities. Tickets are exclusive, but there are a number set aside for the general public, so buy your tickets right away.
The Finish Line
The Snakepit Ball isn’t the only party in town. In fact, if you enjoy the musical stylings of NGHTMRE and JOYRYDE, then you have to head out to The Pavilion. This party is a bit of an after party. It’s called the Finish Line, and it’s held after the 500, Sunday night, May 28. The music will start thumping at 9:00PM. Get your tickets online right now for just $25. Ages 18 and up only please.
