Indianapolis is home to many wonderful museums including the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, and the Indiana State Museum. Museum of Miniature Houses
For something interesting, and perhaps a little off the beaten path, you can head over to Carmel and visit the Museum of Miniature Houses. With over 600 miniatures, you will have plenty of interesting details to discover, and this summer they will be mounting a Harry Potter exhibit as well as an exhibit of domesticated animals. General admission is just $10. You can also visit the museum shop for no charge if you want to satisfy your curiosity on the cheap.
Indiana Medical History Museum
If you are looking for something that is interesting and maybe a little creepy, then why not check out the Indiana Medical History Museum? Visit the Old Pathology building, and see the history of medicine through the ages. Exhibits will both inform and potentially disturb. Admission is $10, and a guided tour lasts approximately one hour. The museum is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10AM to 4PM with the last tour leaving at 3PM.
The Racing Capital of the World
Of course, one of the biggest attractions in this wonderful city is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and even if there isn’t a big race going on, they still have a wonderful museum that you can tour. Take a step through automotive and racing history, and see amazing cars or even take a lap around the track. The museum is open every day of the week and tickets are just $10 for adults.
