Best backpacking, hiking and biking trails near Indianapolis IN

We’re very passionate about cars, but we’re also very passionate about our great community. Now that spring has arrived, it’s time to start thinking about all of the fun outdoor activities that will be available. If you’re from the Indianapolis area, there are tons of places to go backpacking, hiking and biking. If you’re curious which trails are the best in the area, we’ve chosen a few to highlight below. Keep on reading to find out which ones we deem worthy of a visit!

Holliday Park

If you’re someone who enjoys a good morning run, Holliday Park is open from sunrise to sunset. There are over 3.5 miles of trails, and there are also ruins to explore. The unique thing about this park is that it’s located only six miles north of downtown, so if you’re in love with the city and nature, you don’t have to compromise.

Eagle Creek Park

This is the largest park in Indianapolis offering trails, nature, and more! There are trails with different levels of difficulty for both walkers and bikers alike, as well as a great view of everything nature that the park has to offer. This is a great spot for those who enjoy bird watching, as the park offers a migration game. Click the link above for more information!

Southwestway Park

Southwestway Park is one of the area’s largest parks, spanning 101 acres (it is second only to Eagle Creek Park). The park offers hiking and mountain biking trails, a playground, three baseball diamonds, and places to set up for picnics. If you’re curious to learn more about the park and its amenities, click on the link provided above.
