Easy Thanksgiving Recipes 

With how busy it gets around the holidays, it can be hard to find time to get everything ready for a Thanksgiving meal.  Lots of recipes require a lot of time or have a lot of steps involved.  So, to help lessen the stress, we have some easy Thanksgiving recipes that we think you’ll enjoy. 

Now we know that everyone has their own tradition for preparing a turkey, so we’ll focus on some delicious traditional side dishes and a creamy dessert. 


cranberry sauce

Cranberry Sauce 

Ingredients: 12-ounce bag of cranberries, sugar, orange or lemon zest, water, salt and pepper 

  1. Take ½ cup of cranberries and leave them on the side 
  2. Pour rest of cranberries into a saucepan 
  3. Add 1 cup sugar 
  4. Add 1 strip of orange or lemon zest 
  5. Add 2 tablespoons water 
  6. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes – until sugar dissolves and cranberries are soft 
  7. Increase heat to medium for 12 minutes or until cranberries burst 
  8. Reduce heat to low and stir in the rest of the cranberries 
  9. Add sugar, salt and pepper as you want 
  10. Cool to room temperature 

Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Honey and Cinnamon 

Ingredients: 4 sweet potatoes, extra-virgin olive oil, honey, ground cinnamon, salt and pepper 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F 
  2. Peel and dice sweet potatoes 
  3. Lay potatoes in a single layer on a roasting tray 
  4. Drizzle ¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil 
  5. Drizzle ¼ cup honey 
  6. Sprinkle 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 
  7. Sprinkle salt and pepper 
  8. Roast 25 to 30 minutes or until tender 
  9. Drizzle with more extra-virgin olive oil and serve

creamy mashed potatoes

Creamy Mashed Potatoes 

Ingredients: Yukon gold or russet potatoes, softened butter, softened cream cheese, half-and-half, cream, salt and pepper, milk 

  1. Peel and cut potatoes into fourths, place in a large pot on stove 
  2. Boil potatoes 20 to 25 minutes or until tender 
  3. Drain water and place potatoes back on burner 
  4. Reduce heat to low 
  5. Mash potatoes with potato masher for 5 minutes – more steam produced, the better 
  6. Turn off stove 
  7. Add 1 ½ sticks of butter 
  8. Add 1 ½ (8-ounces) packages of cream cheese 
  9. Add ½ cup half-and-half 
  10. Add ½ cup cream 
  11. Stir – add milk to thin if needed 
  12. Add salt and pepper

Pumpkin Mousse 

Note: this makes 8 servings and can be prepared a day in advanced and then refrigerated 

Ingredientscream cheese at room temperature, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla extract, brown sugar, heavy whipped and chilled cream 

  1. In a large bowl, mix until smooth and creamy: 
    1. 4-ounces cream cheese 
    2. 1 can (15-ounces) pumpkin puree 
    3. 1 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice 
    4. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 
    5. ½ cup brown sugar 
  2. Fold in 2 ½ cups heavy whipped cream 
  3. Spoon into dishes 
  4. Top with whipped cream if desired 
  5. Sprinkle ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice on top of all the dishes
