How does Honda Sensing work?
If you have been looking for your next Honda, cruising through automotive buzz words, or even browsing through our website, then you may have heard of Honda Sensing. No it’s not a new Honda car. In some ways, it’s more than that. Let’s find out what Honda Sensing is, and how does Honda Sensing work.
Honda Sensing safety technology
If you remember when smartphones first came on the scene, it was a wonder how app developers and even the platforms themselves could use all that technology and all those sensors in new and interesting ways. They had GPS, Bluetooth, a camera, accelerometers, and more! In some ways, Honda Sensing is like that.

A Honda Sensing equipped vehicle has sensors, cameras, and even radar to assist you in your driving. Instead of one feature, Honda Sensing actually implies a whole suite of technology. This amazing feature set is available on many of the latest Honda vehicles. See specific vehicle for further details. Take a look at everything that’s included below.
Forward Collision Warning
If this system detects that you may collide with something in front of you, then it will activate both audio and visual warnings to alert you.
Collision Mitigation Braking System
If your car determines that an accident with a vehicle in front of you is likely, then it will apply the brakes itself in an effort to avoid it.
Lane Departure Warning
When your car begins to drift out of its lane, without a turn signal indicator activated, this system will flash to alert you to the situation.
Lane Keeping Assist System
If the Lane Departure Warning wasn’t enough, the Lane Keeping Assist system will apply mild steering to put you back in your lane.
Road Departure Mitigation
Using the equipped camera system, if your vehicle detects that you are approaching the edge of the road, it will alert you with quick vibrations in the steering wheel. If the departure persists, the car will steer and apply brakes to keep you on the road.
Adaptive Cruise Control
This may be the coolest system of them all. Adaptive Cruise Control will slow your car down below the set cruise control speed to match a vehicle in front. If vehicle speeds up or exits the lane, then your car will speed back up to its set speed.
Other Honda Sensing Features
There are other features that may be included with the Honda Sensing suite of technology on select models. We have listed them below, but see individual models for specific details.
- Honda LaneWatch
- Blind Spot Information System
- Cross Traffic Monitor
- Auto High-Beam Headlights
