As your local Honda dealer near Beech Grove, we here at Indy Honda want to make sure you know about all of your options when searching for your next ride. In order to find the model that’s perfect for you, you have to be aware of your options. Today, we’re going to give you a detailed guide to the updated 2026 Honda HR-V. This subcompact SUV is smaller and more affordable than the compact CR-V and has a lot of great features spread across its three trim levels. Let’s take a look at what options you have when shopping for a new HR-V.

Changes for 2026

The HR-V doesn’t enter a new generation or get an extensive refresh for the 2026 model year, but it’s not entirely unchanged. Across all trims, the model has some significant upgrades that make it better than ever before.

All trims now come standard with rear privacy glass, so you can keep prying eyes away from your cargo and backseat passengers. A new paint color, Boost Blue Metallic, joins the lineup and is sure to turn heads as you drive around Beech Grove. Each trim has new wheel designs too, to add to the SUV’s unique sense of style.

In previous model years, the premium infotainment system was reserved for the EX-L trim, leaving the LX and Sport with a smaller screen and no wireless charging or wireless smartphone connectivity. For the 2026 model year, the nine-inch touchscreen is now standard across all trims, along with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and a wireless charging pad.

At the top of the trim ladder, the EX-L trim gets some new perks too. The climate control knob now has dynamic lighting, turning blue or red depending on how you’re adjusting the temperature. The footwell has ambient lighting so you can easily find any object you accidentally drop, even at night, and silver steering wheel spokes give the cabin a fresh look.

Trim Levels

In addition to the new features, there are many wonderful features that carry over from the 2025 model year. In case you’re not already familiar with the HR-V, let’s take a look at some highlights from each of the three trim levels: LX, Sport, and EX-L.

HR-V LX

The base LX trim is the most affordable option in the lineup, and it comes with everything you need to get around Beech Grove and beyond. We’ve already mentioned that it now comes standard with an infotainment system that features a larger screen and cutting-edge wireless technology. The cabin also has automatic climate control and push-button start. To keep you safe on the road, you have a suite of standard tech that includes collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, lane keep assist, a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, adaptive cruise control, and hill descent control. The exterior looks great with body-colored side mirrors and a roofline spoiler that give the HR-V a sleek and sporty appearance.

HR-V Sport

Upgrade to the Sport trim, and you’ll get some added features to help you during cold Indiana winters, like heated seats, heated side mirrors, and remote engine start, which lets you get the climate control going before you get in the cabin. Smart entry with walk-away auto lock can come in handy all year long, letting you keep your keys in your pockets for your convenience. When it comes to driver assist technology, you get a blind spot monitor and cross-traffic monitor added to the list of standard features: the former is great on the highway, while the latter can help you avoid fender benders in crowded parking lots.

HR-V EX-L

At the top of the trim list, the HR-V EX-L pulls out all the stops, from leather-trimmed seats to a one-touch power moonroof. For extra comfort in the cabin, you get an eight-way power-adjustable driver seat and a dual-zone automatic climate control system that lets you and your front passenger each set your own ideal temperature. To round out the safety features, you get parking sensors that help you avoid scratches and dings and low-speed braking control to help you avoid collisions at all speeds.

Drivetrain

All trims come standard with efficient front-wheel drive, which gives the 2026 HR-V an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 28 MPG combined.[a] If you’re a commuter or frequent road tripper and fuel economy is a major concern for you, then sticking with this drivetrain could be a smart move. On the other hand, if you want to be able to confidently navigate Beech Grove during heavy rain or snow or often drive to rural areas with unpaved roads and long gravel driveways, you might want to upgrade to all-wheel drive.

Available across all HR-V trims, Honda’s Real Time AWD system uses a variety of sensors to distribute power to the rear wheels only when it’s necessary, so you get extra traction when you need it but aren’t burning extra fuel unnecessarily when road conditions are good. This system explains why opting for all-wheel drive doesn’t cause a huge drop in fuel economy: the 2026 HR-V with AWD has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 27 MPG combined.[a]

Accessories

Once you’ve picked out a trim and decided whether you prefer FWD or AWD, your final step is to decide whether you want to customize your HR-V with some quality accessories. When you get these accessories from us instead of a third party, you can rest assured that they’re the right fit for your particular model and that they’re high quality and won’t void your warranty.

If you live an active lifestyle, you might have trouble fitting all of your equipment inside the cargo area of any SUV, let alone a subcompact model. Luckily, you can use the roof space above your HR-V to bring everything you need along for the adventure. In addition to simple roof racks, you can get more specific accessories like attachments made to carry bikes, kayaks, skis, snowboards, and more, as well as a variety of multipurpose roof boxes and baskets.

To protect the appearance of the SUV’s exterior, whether you’re driving around Beech Grove or heading out on big adventures, you can get accessories like door guards, splash guards, and lower door trim. Door visors let you open the windows even in inclement weather without letting moisture into the cabin. Other options accentuate the HR-V’s style, like gloss black emblems, grille trim, and special decals.

Some of these accessories have been bundled together into convenient packages. If you want several features that work together to protect the vehicle, get you ready for harsh weather, or give the HR-V a rugged look, an option like the HPD Package or Rugged Package might be a great deal for you.
